For the fourth day of Holiday Recipes Heaven, I'm bringing you a kid-friendly dessert idea. One Charming Party's recipe/tutorial for these Chocolate and Caramel Dipped Marshmallows is easy to follow and the resulting sweets are perfect for kids' picky palates.
Ingredients
regular sized marshmallows
caramels (homemade or bought)
chocolate
crushed candy canes (optional)
lollipop sticks
Directions
Make or melt your caramel using a double boiler or a substitute version. While the caramel is melting, insert a lollipop stick into eachmarshmallow. Set out a sheet of parchment or wax paper or the new non-stick aluminum foil.
Using the lollipop stick as a handle, dip each marshmallow into the melted caramel, covering completely. Place each dipped marshmallow onto the parchment and allow them to cool completely.
If you are using the optional peppermints, crush them and set aside. Using a double boiler (or sub) melt the chocolate and dip the cooled caramel-covered marshmallow into the chocolate, covering 2/3 of each marshmallow. Immediately roll the ends of the chocolate marshmallow in the crushed peppermint. Let cool on the parchment.
If you're joining the Holiday Recipe Heaven fun midstream, be sure to check out all of the projects in this series here.
