Dessert Table: White Out!

Linda of Call Me Cupcake shared these gorgeous, winter white photos with my friend Maddy of The Inspired Bride, and I just had to share them you. Linda played with various shades of white and lots of different textures to add dimension to this monochromatic display.
This inspirational shoot will doubtlessly encourage party hosts, brides, and event planners to go beyond using just tables and dressers for their dessert displays. Linda chose a chair, a side table, and shelves to showcase each white wonder.
This shoot just screams sophistication. The fur rug, lace appliqued cake, and luminous setting all work together to create a fresh take on a Winter Wonderland theme. Have you ever seen all-white done so right?

Be sure to swing by tomorrow. I've got some really fun things in store. See you then!

Dessert Table: Love is Elemental

I love the way Amorology incorporated the periodic table into this couple's candy bar. The bride is an elementary science teacher, and that's evident throughout. Check out Style Me Pretty for all the science-y goodness.
Need a little more science-y goodness? Check out this and this previous post of sweetly-geeky treats.

Silhouette Sweets

I came across this silhouette-laden event on Green Wedding Shoes and had to share some of the details with you. Last month, I incorporated hand-cut silhouettes into this dessert table's design, but there are plenty of other ways to incorporate your profile into your event.
Favor bags, silhouette cookies, and invitations in a united, bright hue make for a nostalgically-modern event.

Dessert Table: Girly Goodness

Style Me Pretty featured this girly dessert table by Lisa of Delicious Desserts yesterday. Wouldn't this light, feminine palette be perfect for a baby shower?

Love, Sweet Love

This photo shoot is full of sugary goodness. Jenna of Eat Drink Pretty makes a lovely bride/model. She even convinced her hubby to join in for the Style Me Pretty photo challenge. A candy shop would make a great engagement photo setting, too.

DIY Favors: Candy Cartons

These DIY candy cartons from Eat, Drink, Chic are perfect favor containers for all kinds of candy. The light-hearted graphics add a fun, not-so-serious element to your event.

Art Imitates Life(savers)

Rockmade artists, Rebecca Odes and Craig Kanarick, work in the sweetest medium. Forget oils and pastels, these artists use candy to make limited edition prints.

Looking at each monochromatic print can help you come up with untraditional candies to fit your event's color scheme.

Last-Minute Christmas Treats

I'm sure you're rushing around and dealing with the crowds and traffic that this time of year inevitably brings, so a full dessert table probably isn't high on your to-do. That doesn't mean you can't still incorporate candy into your holiday decor.

Stick with a simple red and white palette to make any last minute tasks easy. Use candy canes to prop up seating cards, or attach names to goodie bags filled with gourmet marshmallows at each seat. If you're feeling like you've got some extra time, create tiny gingerbread houses (you can cheat and use a pre-baked kit) to hang on the rim of your cocoa mug.

Unbe-wreath-able!

I was so thrilled about the evergreen wreath hanging on my front door, until I saw these from Food Network. Now, I'm wondering if it's too late to involve the whole family in an edible wreath-making contest. I would never have thought to use cinnamon sticks or rock candy to make a wreath. These DIY goodies would be unexpected greeters for holiday guests.

DIY Favors: Candy Tins

These favors tins couldn't be cuter. The three shades of pink, correspondingly colored jelly beans, and coordinated labels are definitely covetable. Now, before you get completely lost in the cuteness hold on to your hats...they are downloade-able and free!

The Inspired Bride designed the labels and gives step-by-step directions so you can download and use these great labels for your favors.

Ornamental-icious!

She's done it again. Amber of Sweet Ambs has just posted pics of her sugar cookie ornaments. I love the gold and white combo, very classic Christmas. How could you possibly resist eating those?

Can't you just imagine these ornaments on a tree next to a gold and white candy buffet? Now, that's my idea of happy holidays.

Check out all five edible ornaments and get the recipe here.

For a bride on a budget, these little lovelies could replace a cake and still leave the guests with their sweet tooth satisfied and the impression that they have experienced something unique.

Last-Minute Halloween Treats

Since my little one is going to be an owl for her first Halloween, these treats really spoke to me. For all of my fellow procrastinators, here are some last-minute recipes and ideas for your Halloween bash.

Spooky Treats: Halloween Dessert Table

Leave it to Martha to create a fun Halloween dessert table. I love that the pumpkin faces don't require Picasso-like carving skills.

These snowy white carvings would be an elegant, unexpected twist for a fall wedding reception. My minimal skills could never create one of these masterpieces, but they would be phenomenal on a fall-inspired table surrounded by all-white candies and desserts. Lots of candlelight in the room would keep the event feeling warm and intimate rather than stark and sterile.

Green Garden Dessert Buffet

When designing this table for a couple's Conservatory wedding, images of butterflies and greenery came to mind. Structured gardens teeming with little critters inspired this table. I combed the Twin Cities and beyond to find the right touches for this table.

Hand-decorated chocolates make a pretty garden, while chocolate peonies and flower-shaped pizelles and cupcakes continue the garden theme.

No garden is complete without colorful critters. Hand-painted ladybugs and bumble bees are grouped in various locations on the table, while tree stumps pose as cake stands.

Butterfly cookies float in topiaries and are also presented in a glass habitat complete with greenery and a beaded berry nest.
