Kiddo's Retro Modern Birthday and Dessert Table

Whew! Kiddo's 6th birthday has come and gone. Now that I'm rested up from all that designing, planning, and crafting, it's the perfect time to share some pics and projects. You know me, I had to DIY some cute stuff and design a dessert table to customize her bash, but I didn't want to spend a lot of money. So, I created an inexpensive photo booth backdrop, a retro modern dessert table backdrop, some milk bottles, and a colorful dance floor for breakdancing.

The fab Sydnee Bickett captured all of the lovely details, and I'm sharing tutorials for the projects on Momtastic. I also give my 5 Tips to Makeover a Bland Birthday Venue, which helped us save some money. Check that out, and be sure to swing by to learn to make your own:

These little diamond color block milk bottles were another easy, inexpensive DIY. I wrote up the tutorial for Momtastic. Swing by for the how-to.

 

Last year, I made a little cake for her. This year, we had a million (read: 14) kids in attendance, so cupcakes seemed like a more manageable option.

This giant number 6 photo booth backdrop was easy and really inexpensive to make. You've got to check out my tutorial.

 

I danced as much as the kids, and this pic of my two girls dancing together makes me so happy!

Search for Your Awesome Dessert Table + Party

I basically won the blogger lottery, when Bing recruited my Confetti Pop partner, Maddy, and I to co-host a party with Alison of The Alison Show for the Minneapolis leg of her Search for Your Awesome tour. We invited lots of great, local bloggers, business owners, and creatives and taught the in-person version of The Style Lab, our photo styling e-course. Here are few fab pics that photog Gene Oh shot of the festivities, including the dessert table I designed (Hello, macarons, gold flamingo cookies, and candy!) and Studio Fleurette's florals. Obviously, I had to make this ridiculous face. Seriously, what is that face?!?

And, you know I had to grab a pic with my girl, Alanna. She helped us during the party and even stayed to clean up after this big, crazy bash. Thanks, giiiirl!

A Kid in a Candy Store Dessert Table + Fab Kids Giveaway

I know, you're like, "What?!? Two posts in two days? What is this insanity, Shauna?!?" Calm down. I have another fun post headed your way, but I don't want to send you into sugary heart palpitations, so I'll wait until next week to roll that one out. Or, will I?

You probably saw this sneak peek of a tiny dessert table or this pic of the little one gleefully frolicking through the office on my IG a couple of weeks ago.

Well, now you can see what I created this teeny candy-filled dessert table. I used it  as a backdrop for kiddo to do a little modeling for Fab Kids.

Kiddo's Winter Wonderland Birthday and Dessert Table

Hey sugar addicts! I'm so jazzed to share kiddo's 5th birthday party with you. The ladies of 100 Layer Cakelet were kind enough to share some images with their readers, and I wanted to highlight the dessert table here. I designed this invite, and it inspired everything else, so I guess I should give you a glimpse of that first. And, before you zoom in all close, just know that this isn't my real address. It's not that I don't trust each and every one of you, but…

I wanted to keep the dessert table pretty simple. It is for children, after all. But, I still wanted to add enough custom details to delight my girl. Let's just say, this is probably the first time in history anyone has ever squealed about a milk bottle label. She was like, "That says, 'Averie! It's fabulous, dah-ling!'" She has flair. If you follow me on Instagram, you're well aware.

Check out this gold confetti plate and that little owl! So fab. Both of those beauties were contributed by Land of Nod. They're a perfect fit this white and gold, wintry theme.

Shop Sweet Lulu kindly let me pick some products from their shop. I designed wrappers for the white ice cream cups to match the back of the invite and labels for the milk bottles with each girl's name. I also put a faceted 5, like the one on the invite, on top of each milk bottle. 

Candy Warehouse hooked us up with plenty of candy to fill up the gold faceted piñata I made.

This is one of my favorite pics of me, Darren, and the kids. So cute!

Dessert Meets Design: Beautiful Bounty Dessert Table

Hello, caramel frosting! I'm knee-deep in Thanksgiving prep, and Confetti Pop is no different. Our Beautiful Bounty shoot is a foxy feast for the eyes. Check out the amber and olive hues of the dessert table, which the fab Melissa Oholendt (who looks exactly like Emma Stone) photographed. Danielle Erickson of Studio Fleurette worked her usual floral magic. Pumpkin scones, chocolate-dipped coconut macaroons, and gingerbread cookies all create a home-y, comforting flavor profile.

My girl Cyd of The Sweetest Occasion also featured more great shots of the dining tablescape, and Confetti Pop has two tutorials of the fab DIYs.

And yes, this popcorn and several mini salted caramel cupcakes made it into my mouth during the shoot. Don't judge me.

Dessert Table: Unicorn Birthday Party

A unicorn party? Seriously? Yes! Absolutely! After seeing this super cute dessert table, I don't know why this theme isn't featured more often on the kid birthday circuit. I mean, who cares about Dora the Explorer and the Bratz when you can have a whimsical, girly fete like this? I stumbled upon this fanciful creation on my Pinterest feed, and I must say, Natalie Spencer Photography did a great job highlighting each and every frilly detail.

Dessert Table: Fall Feast

Last weekend, I hung out with my neighbors around a bonfire until midnight.  We all had blankets and sweatshirts, and it made me realize just how quickly Fall's coming. I'm not in love with the idea of colder days and nights, but the changing season does inspire me to design dessert tables that have moodier vibes, darker colors, and home-y feeling sweets. I love this MN Bride spread, which has pies, cake, and cookies.
