Squeaky Clean

I'm partial to edible wedding favors (for obvious reasons), but these handmade soap favors by mbeasoap are a great inspirations for a DIY bride. A few charms, some ribbon, and papers in various pattens to match your event's aesthetic would be a simple afternoon project.

You could even take it a step further and get funky with the soap. LUSH has some great looking options. This Waylander Rhassoul soap would look amazing wrapped in cream-colored papers and tied with teal, raspberry, or bright orange ribbon. There are a few LUSH locations in The Cities (MOA, on Nicollet, and in most Macy's in the metro).

Rainbow Brite

These graphic A&G nesting bowls would be the perfect inspiration for a table. The diamond pattern is very preppy, but the funkadelic palette adds a decidedly "in your face" vibe that traditional preppy steers far clear of. Diamond-shaped, multi-colored cookies and a striped 3-tier creation surrounded by all-white desserts would really pop.

Green Garden Dessert Buffet

When designing this table for a couple's Conservatory wedding, images of butterflies and greenery came to mind. Structured gardens teeming with little critters inspired this table. I combed the Twin Cities and beyond to find the right touches for this table.

Hand-decorated chocolates make a pretty garden, while chocolate peonies and flower-shaped pizelles and cupcakes continue the garden theme.

No garden is complete without colorful critters. Hand-painted ladybugs and bumble bees are grouped in various locations on the table, while tree stumps pose as cake stands.

Butterfly cookies float in topiaries and are also presented in a glass habitat complete with greenery and a beaded berry nest.

Spring is here!

This is the perfect cupcake to welcome Spring. I'm not a huge fan of coconut, but Martha makes these look temptingly cute. A May bride could easily use these as favors to thank the ring bearer and flower girl.

FAQs

I am frequently contacted by people interested in starting their own dessert table business. Here, you will find several of the most common questions and the one answer that addresses them all.

Q) How can I start my own dessert table business?
Q) Can you give me advice about pricing/product/contracts?
Q) How do you find your contacts and resources?
Q) Can I have a copy of your business plan?
Q) How much profit do you make?
Q) Can I do this full-time?

A) Starting a business is a very personal decision. Your goals, clientele, location, cost of living, overhead, etc. factor into making some of the most crucial decisions regarding your company. Without knowing these variables, it would be negligent of me to offer advice. It would also be wrong to offer "one size fits all" advice for inquirers, since each situation can vary greatly.

For this reason, I hesitate to advise anyone on their prices, contractual agreements, or other business dealings. What works for me might be utterly disastrous for someone else.

The best advice I can give: Research, research, research and be willing to adapt to the changing variables that affect your company.
