Sweet Idea: Neon Geometric Ombre Cake

It doesn't get much more awesome than this when it comes to wedding cakes. It manages to encompass three trends, geometric shapes, neon colors, and ombre gradients, while remaining sophisticated and beautiful. It's easy for a cake to get so trendy and colorful that it looks more like something in a fun house.

Sweet Idea: DIY Candy Sushi

I've never thought about a little sushi party for kiddo, but these adorable DIY candy sushi are making me think of at least stuffing a little bento box full of them for her to have for lunch one day. Look at those bright bundles!

I love that these simple jelly candies and marshmallows can come together to make sugary replicas of sushi. Wouldn't this be a fun kid's party theme?

Arranged on a tray like this, the "sushi" is colorful and modern with mostly white bases and pops of vibrant pink, orange, yellow, and green. Red and black licorice strands tie each bundle together.

Dessert Table: Fall Feast

Last weekend, I hung out with my neighbors around a bonfire until midnight.  We all had blankets and sweatshirts, and it made me realize just how quickly Fall's coming. I'm not in love with the idea of colder days and nights, but the changing season does inspire me to design dessert tables that have moodier vibes, darker colors, and home-y feeling sweets. I love this MN Bride spread, which has pies, cake, and cookies.

DIY Divided Nautical Favor Box

You probably already know the always-fabulous Mrs. Lilien. Well, she's expecting baby #3, and we were thrilled to create these favor boxes for her nautical baby shower. We teamed up with the Candy Warehouse crew to fill each DIY favor box with four color-coded sweet treats.

Dessert Table: Scandinavian Scallop

I've been lucky enough to hook up with the super sweet photography duo behind Jeff Loves Jessica on projects like this. Kiddo even loves playing with their little guy when we're all working on set together. So, I was thrilled to see some of their pretty images in my Pinterest feed from their collaboration with The Honeycomb CollectiveThis DIY scalloped backdrop, which was featured on Ruffled, looks great behind a dessert table.

I love how easy this backdrop is, and I love when I randomly come across new talented folks in the Twin Cities. Check out the tutorial right here.

Style it Sweet

By now, you guys know I teach The Style Lab online with my Confetti Pop partner, Maddy. Well, one of the topics we delve into the e-course with our students is how to style food for photos. I was scrolling through our Food Styling board on Pinterest the other day, and came across some of the sweet dessert pics I've pinned to inspire our students. Aren't these just amazing?

Dessert Table: Starry Night Baby Shower

I love a co-ed baby shower, because let's face it, there isn't a lot for the father-to-be to do while the bun's still in the oven. A sophisticated, but fun, co-ed shower helps get dad excited and geared up for the little one's arrival. 100 Layer Cakelet featured this Peter Pan dessert table for a baby shower designed by Sugar & Fluff. Photographer Richelle Dante's pictures make the sweets look delicious.

That starry cake is a great compliment to the gold stars hanging from the ceiling. Cupcakes, macarons, and chocolate chip cookies are yummy companions.

I love that each guest had a mint green macaron waiting at their plate. What a sweet way to start a meal.
