State Fair Faves: Cotton Candy Cupcake Recipe

I'm back with another Great MN Get Together inspired sweet as Maddy and I get excited about the upcoming fest. Remember those pinky pink cupcakes peeking from behind yesterday's Honey Lemonade? Well, add a whisp of cotton candy and a fun wrapper and they become the star of today's post. Cotton candy is a fair classic, with its super-sugary, fluffy goodness so I know you'll love a cupcake version.

Sweet Idea: DIY Cotton Candy Tray

I'm a big fan of at-home fair foods, in fact, we own a snow cone maker. Imagine an at-home cotton candy machine and an impressive, DIY way to present it at a small party. This tutorial by Jordan of Oh Happy Day shows us how to turn a plain old acrylic slab into a custom cotton candy tray.

Dessert Table: Valentine's Day DIYs & Downloads

This Anders Ruff Custom Design pink and red dessert table, which was featured on Hostess with the Mostess, is a cute overload. Becca Bond Photography had the enviable task of photographing each adorable shot. But even better than the Valentine's Day theme is the brilliant decor DIY idea that could translate to a lot of different themes. Paper plate poms.

That's right. Those gigantic, pink polyhedrons are made from standard paper plates! But, hold on, because the DIY goodness doesn't end there. Fabric flowers top candy dishes, paper heart toppers finish off cupcakes, and a heart garland adds a festive finish to the pink table cloth.

Want to make some of those paper plate poms yourself? Check out Anders Ruff's tutorial here. You can even download the labels and other paper goods at the Anders Ruff Etsy shop here.
