DIY Gold Typography Pumpkins for Thanksgiving

My neighbors already have their lights up. One of my best friends put up three, yes three, Christmas trees inside her house before Halloween. By now, she's probably put up her other four trees. I know it's tempting to bust out the winter-y holiday decorations, but I'm savoring the fall festivities. These DIY Gold Foil Typography Pumpkins are gonna wow my Turkey Day guests. Sweet Branding II

I've shared some great dessert-related branding suits with you before, like this and this but today's identity is probably the simplest of them all. Design Work Life featured this one by Family for Vanilla Cupcake Kitchen.

Family used die cuts to showcase a simple font and dotted border for the logo.

Even the stickers used to seal the boxes are relatively subdued compared to the rainbow colors we're used to seeing associated with sweets.

A little color is introduced for the printed materials and the website, which still maintain the company's simplistic identity.

I like this identity so much, because it's evidence that a design doesn't have to be complex to help identify a company and create a lasting impression.

Decorate Your Cakes & Cookies

You might remember the tool I shared before to design and decorate your wedding cake. Well, if you're not in a nuptial state of mind, but still want to have some cake-related fun this Parents Magazine tool is for you. Choose your frosting colors, tip sizes, decorations, and cake and cookie shapes.

Surprisingly, my virtual creations look a lot like my real-life ones. My shaky hand is evident in both! Check out the tools to decorate a cake and a cookie.

Crazy Cakes

While searching for inspiration for an upcoming project, I came across this great Brides.com tool. You can create your own cake by customizing the color, decoration, and topper. It's great for trying out wacky combos before meeting with a baker.

I would never have a teal cake with two live birds in a cage as a topper, but it's fun to pretend. Check out Brides Create-A-Cake.
