4 Guilt-Free Summer Treats
This summer, I'm whipping up lots of cool desserts to beat the heat. In fact, I created four healthy, fruity, sweet treats for Momtastic. Each one uses Arctic Zero, instead of ice cream, so you can indulge without the snacker's remorse. Check out these strawberry watermelon floats, coconut mango pineapple popsicles, coconut pineapple shakes, and strawberries and cream "ice cream" sandwiches.

Taste This: Almond Toffee Butterscotch Blondies Recipes
I used to have a hardcore blondie addiction in college. It was no joke. For some reason, I was in a blondie state of mind again this weekend, and decided to make a batch of Almond Toffee Butterscotch Blondies.
In the interest of full disclosure, I'm going to let you in on a few things.
one: I usually add in things I love, rather than sticking strictly to a recipe. It makes for some interesting, but usually delish results. Like these.
two: If you hate cake-y blondies and brownies, keep on pushin'. These are lighter than air and chock full of toffee, butterscotch, and more!
three: We ate a good chunk of this blondie pie before I could get pics. The family and I couldn't wait to dive into it, so I had to just shoot the remaining half. But, you'd never know, until you saw this pic.
I loved these! And, the kids and hub agree, so that's a bonus. What I most liked, is that they aren't overly sweet and sugary. They're more subtle. Check out the recipe.

Sweet Idea: Fancy Popsicles
What summer-y treat has basil, mint, and rosemary in the mix? Grown-up popsicles, of course! I'm loving these punchy popsicle pics (see what I did there with the "P" alliteration?) from Fun.kyti.me for Memorial Day. Why blend up fruit when adding them whole makes such a pretty, modern pop? And let's face it, sometimes I'm not in the mood to pull out and clean up the blender.
Check out Fun.kyti.me for recipes for these fancy frozen favorites (I'm in an alliteration mood today, I guess.). There's even one for a mojito pop. Mmmm!

Recipe: Root Beer Float Shooters
If you leave her alone for more than a hot second, chances are my A Splendid Party creative partner Maddy's going to create some clever DIY thing. Anytime that thing is edible, I'm on board to spread the word. Today's she's bringing us her sweet and simple idea for root beer float shooters.
These are so cute. They'd be perfect for a kid's party. In fact, I might make some for kiddo just for the fun of it. Check out Maddy's full post and ingredients here.

Sweet Idea: Cinco de Mayo Pinata Cookies
I really don't need a lot of excuses to demolish a cookie, but I'm thankful that this recipe by Sandra via SheKnows gives me a totally valid one anyway. Pinata-inspired Cinco de Mayo cookies are just brilliant. I mean, how clever are these things?

Recipe: Gumdrop Favors
If you've never worked with gelatin (not to be confused with Jell-o), then you're missing out on lots of easy, great recipes. Bakerella shared this one for homemade gumdrops, which can be bagged for cute favors.
Just look at how sparkly and pretty these are. Want to try some for yourself? Check out the recipe and even print the favor labels for yourself!

Goodie Goodie Gumdrops (Makes about 8 dozen 3/4 inch gumdrops)
Supplies:
4 Tbsp gelatin (that’s about 6 envelopes)
1 cup cold water
1 1/2 cups boiling water
4 cups sugar
1/4 tsp flavored extract like lemon or peppermint
1-2 drops food coloring (I used four colors)
extra sugar for coating
1 cup cold water
1 1/2 cups boiling water
4 cups sugar
1/4 tsp flavored extract like lemon or peppermint
1-2 drops food coloring (I used four colors)
extra sugar for coating
……………………………………………
In a large pot, soften gelatin in cold water for five minutes. Stir in boiling water until gelatin dissolves. Stir in sugar. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat and boil for 25 minutes. Stir constantly. Pour mixture into 4 – 3X5 pans. Add 1/4 tsp extract and 1-2 drops food color to each pan. Stir until thoroughly combined.
Cover pan and chill overnight in the fridge.
Cut gelatin mixture into 3/4 inch cubes using a knife dipped in hot water. The gelatin may pull, but continue cutting. Separate cubes and roll in sugar until coated on all sides. Place gumdrops on wax paper and leave at room temperature for two days to crystallize.
Store in an airtight container.

Recipe: Italian Soda
Italian soda is a great, refreshing Summery thirst quencher that's easier to make than you might think. Sugar and Charm shared a recipe for her homemade version. With only three ingredients (cream, club soda, and syrup), it's impossible to get it wrong.
Want to tackle this sip-able treat? Check out the recipe card.
If you don't want to fool around with making the syrup, you can buy pre-made varieties. Yum!

It's supposed to be 100 degrees tomorrow, and I'm sweating just thinking about it. These white peach, lychee, and red berry pops by Aran of Cannelle et Vanille would be a great way to beat the heat.

Edible Ice Cream Bowl Tutorial
There's a lot to love about this tutorial. The idea of an edible ice cream bowl is pure fun, and I'm a big fan of sprinkles. But, what I love most is that this tutorial is so simple, there are no words needed. No complicated steps, just four easy-to-follow photos. Enjoy!

The Cupcake Deck
I was shopping in Crate & Barrel this weekend, and saw this clever recipe card concept. The Cupcake Deck is a set of card-sized recipes that make a perfect, inexpensive gift for any hobby baker. Every card has a different sweet recipe, while the back features a close-up, color photo of the finished goodies.
I'm not sure if this deck is always available, or if it's seasonal. Just to be on the safe side, snap them up now!

Holiday Recipe Heaven: Day 3 - Double Chocolate Peppermint Biscotti
Later today, I've got a fast favor presentation idea inspired by H&M's holiday ad campaign, but first let's check out today's recipe. It's the third day of Holiday Recipe Heaven and I must say BHG's Double Chocolate Peppermint Biscotti is simply wonderful, because you can store them for up to three months. So, you can make a double batch now, and freeze some to get you through the winter.
Holiday Recipe Heaven: Day 2 - Pear Cranberry Hand Pie
Yesterday, was the first day of the Holiday Recipe Heaven series. Today, I'm back with a fabulous spin on mini pies. Food & Wine's Pear Cranberry Hand Pie is a self-contained, flaky wonder. Isn't this pic by I Want the Pie just gorgeous? As genius as this idea is, it's made even better because the recipe calls for a store-bought crust.

10 Days of Craftsmas!: Day 2 - Gingerbread Place Cards
It's the second day of the 10 Days of Craftsmas, which Maddy of Somewhere Splendid and I dreamed up to provide you with lots of holiday baking and crafting ideas. Today's project was actually a component of yesterday's gorgeous Rustic Rosette Runner table decor idea. These gingerbread reindeer cookies do double duty. Of course they're delicious and easy to make, but they also serve as seating cards for an intimate holiday party.
A Sweet Christmas Countdown
It's December 1st, and that means only a few short weeks until Christmas. While there are a lot of cute advent calendar ideas floating around the blogosphere right now, Epicurious' Christmas cookie countdown is my favorite way to mark the 25 days.
I know tackling all 25 is probably out of the question, so here are a few of my favorites. These lemon cookies come dressed for the season when coated with colored sanding sugar.
Stained glass ornament cookies are deceptively simple to make.
Don't have the time to make the ornaments? These chocolate sandwich cookies are rolled in peppermint candies to deliver all the holiday oomph without the holiday hassle.
For all of you who loved my Fall dessert table and yesterday's seasonal display, be sure to come back tomorrow for a truly winter-y sugar fest.
Swing by later today for a sweet kickoff to Hanukkah, which starts today.
