Sweet Idea: Neon Geometric Ombre Cake

It doesn't get much more awesome than this when it comes to wedding cakes. It manages to encompass three trends, geometric shapes, neon colors, and ombre gradients, while remaining sophisticated and beautiful. It's easy for a cake to get so trendy and colorful that it looks more like something in a fun house.

 

But this one from 100 Layer Cake is just fab, don't ya think?

Dessert Table: I've Got The Blues

Ombre doesn't have to be busy. This simple, crisp design features only a subtle grey backdrop. Azar Jazestani styled these ombre blue sweets by Gimme Some Sugar include a modern dot cake, oversized cookies, cupcakes, and cake pops.

Dessert Table: Gradient Goodness

Flowers, flowers everywhere! A large floral backdrop in white and soft pinks add impact without distracting from the edible floral details on several cakes and cakes on display. Mrs A in the Cove also used pink, teal, and white macarons to adorn two cakes, while pale and saturated teal decorated two others.

Ombre Obsession

Ok, it's official. Pretty much anytime someone translates an ombre pattern onto sweets, I'm going to love it. This Bobette & Belle display is so simple, and the seafoam green gradient is so lovely, that I figured it was worth sharing.

Cake, For Like Ever

Your sweet inspiration can come from the simplest places. Perhaps you derive your palette from a popular poster. These two cakes, one a buttercream dream and the other a fondant fantasy, both prominently feature flowers. Tutorial: Painted Ombre Cookies

I was creating the October gift guide for my husband's blog, Well-Groomed, and came across this yummy tutorial. Decorating cookies is a lot easier than you'd think. Remember these monogram chalkboard cookies I created? Well, this ombre cookie tutorial from The Sweet Adventures of Sugar Belle is just as simple with equally stunning results.

Use a paper guide to keep your lines straight and apply your gradients of color to each third of your cookie.

As with all stenciled designs, I love that this allows you to create a clean design without a super-steady hand or years of practice. Isn't this delicious?

Lilac Ombre Cake

This cake makes me so happy. It's obviously got an ombre effect on the tiers, but a cut slice reveals a coordinated ombre inside as well. Kate Miller Events and Sarah Maren Photographers teamed up to create this lovely shoot for Style Me Pretty. These shades of soft purple with the luminous background add such a sunlit beauty to the display. And don't forget to check out the deliciously simple way the stylist dressed up water goblets. Rock candy sticks are such a great touch.
