Tutorial: DIY Cupcake Liner Flowers

This bouquet was made from cupcake liners and stickers! It's amazing, right? Well, The Crafts Dept. over at Martha shared this project. Even better? You can get all of the supplies at Jo-Ann (and probably online from marthastewart.com).
Start with some simple, store bought supplies to create this pretty look. Keep reading to get the how-to.

Spring Garden Bouquet Instructions
Tools and Materials
Floral wire
Fern stickers
Golden Beryl glitter
Floral tape
Needle-nose pliers
Hot-glue gun and glue sticks
Flower stickers
Large and mini cupcake liners
Ferns How-To:
You’ll need 1 piece of wire and 1 sticker per fern.
1. Attach wire to adhesive back of fern. Secure with additional glue.
2. Apply glitter to back of sticker. Bend to create an organic shape. Cover the stem of the wire with floral tape.
Sticker Flowers How-To:
1. Use pliers to twist wire into a spiral. Bend spiral 90 degrees to make a platform.
2. Hot-glue flower stickers onto the platform.
Cupcake Wrapper Flowers How-To:
1. Repeat spiral wire technique (1 per flower).
2. Use the screw punch to punch a hole in the center of 3 mini and 2 large cupcake liners. (Add more for a more voluminous flower).
3. Insert the spiral end of the wire through the 3 mini liners, and adhere with hot glue. Pinch the bottom of the liner to secure and create a natural flower shape. Let dry.
4. Add the 2 large liners under the minis and repeat. Secure the pinched end with floral tape and continue wrapping to the bottom of the wire.

Cupcake Liner Valentine's Crafts

Cupcake liner crafts are everywhere. We've seen them used as garland and as Christmas cones inspiration. This week, I discovered two new cupcake liner projects for Valentine's Day decor.

Kathleen of Twig & Thistle created this Valentine's heart wreath for Fossil's new DIY lookbook using a Styrofoam heart, cupcake liners, and hot glue. Why a watch company is interested in DIY projects, I'll never understand, but Kathleen's project is really simple and inexpensive.
This week's second cupcake liner craft is this pomander that I found on Kara's Party Ideas. Kara created this craft using the same simple components, Styrofoam, cupcake liners, and hot glue. To attach the liners to the foam ball, she used pearl head pins. Once completed, Kara used the pomanders to bookend her Valentine's dessert buffet.
Have you seen any other cupcake liner crafts popping up around the blogosphere?

Cupcake Liner Tree

A few months ago, I received the special 15th anniversary issue of Martha Stewart Weddings and this gorgeous cake greeted me. I'm still amazed by cake guru Syvlia Weinstock's delicate handiwork.

No matter how hard I try, I'll never be skilled enough to recreate something even close to this. I've come to terms with that reality, because Twig & Thistle and Paper Crave have the perfect solution to create the same look. Cupcake liners! That's right. Kathleen used dark brown liners to create this easy holiday decor tree.

Kristen of Paper Crave designed a more Chistmas-y tree and provided an easy tutorial so you can make your own.
Even though these trees aren't edible, they still have the same delicate wow factor that Sylvia's cake possessed. In fact, this might be even more stunning, because you can group several of them on a side table or buffet as a focal point. Wanna kick it up a notch? Mix up the liner colors you use to create trees to match your holiday theme. Matte pink and white wrappers mixed with metallic gold ones would be a perfect accent to a home with a pink tree and gold ornaments.
