Dessert Table: Tea-licious! Pt II

I shared a few lovely pics of this all-white dessert/dining table with you earlier, and I'm back with even more images of this Hello Naomi, Bo Peep ProductionsNatalie Hunfalvay collaboration via Somewhere Splendid. I think it's so clever to combine the dessert table and dining table in one. It really creates a community dining experience of sharing and passing plates. What a great idea for a bridal shower.
Doesn't this unstructured display make a dessert table seem attainable for any baker? A few mismatched cake stands and tea cups look like a cohesive display when unified by the all-white color palette.

Dessert Table: Tea-licious!

This all-white dessert table incorporates food, drink, and favors. This bridal shower tea party featured sweets by Hello Naomi and styling by Bo Peep Productions. When I saw these lovely Natalie Hunfalvay pics on 100 Layer Cake, I fell for the pristine simplicity of the event.

One simple cake, lots of macarons, and loose tea. Who knew those elements could make such a complete, pretty design?

I'll be back later with even more pics from this lovely design.

Dessert Table: Puppy Party

We've talked about the pooch at a party trend a few times, but I have to admit, this is the first doggie dessert table I've ever seen. I found this puppy party at One Charming Party and scooted over to photog Nicole Hill's blog for even more pics. For so many people, your pets are your kids and this party is full of inspiration for your "baby's" birthday.

I love the great mix of patterns here like the dog print paper, the plaid fabric, and the houndstooth envelope liners. The cute pups are great, too.

Have you ever thrown a party for your pet? If not, would you?

Guest Desserts: First Fiesta!

Today's Guest Desserts feature was submitted by Marisol of Ritzy Market Flores y Eventos (Flowers and Events) in México City. This dessert table is her second design, and she created it for her friend's daughter. Since the budget was tight (only $150), Marisol had to add creative touches to inexpensive favors, like the flower-adorned popcorn boxes, paper favor cones, and marshmallow pops. Check out the way she dressed up the juice boxes.

from Marisol: Here in México we love the Japanese peanuts with something we called "chamoy" that is a sour and sweet red mix and we add also salt with "chile piquin" that adds a hot flavor to them, we also put these 2 mixes on "totis" salad rings that are like the cheetos or puffs but just with salt.

On the back of the table I bought and paint, a wood structure like a stick, to hold the donuts that I bought at a "panadería", here in México we eat a lot of "pan dulce" (sweet bread) and the bread that these "panaderías" sell is always fresh and delicious.

Thank you so much for submitting your design, Marisol! You really maximized the budget, and your creativity shows in each of your crafty projects.

Edible Ice Cream Bowl Tutorial

There's a lot to love about this tutorial. The idea of an edible ice cream bowl is pure fun, and I'm a big fan of sprinkles. But, what I love most is that this tutorial is so simple, there are no words needed. No complicated steps, just four easy-to-follow photos. Enjoy!
Who knew balloons were so versatile? In the last few weeks, we've found several dessert-friendly uses for them. Which balloon-dessert DIY do you like best? Today's chocolate bowls, these mini pinatas, or these papier mache eggs?

Guest Desserts: Easter Feast

Today's Guest Desserts feature was submitted by Rowaida, who you may remember also submitted this Halloween and this Christmas dessert table a few months ago. Well, she's back at it and designing dessert tables for her friends and their children to celebrate Easter. I'll let her tell us a little about her table.

from Rowaida: Yesterday had some friends with their kids over for lunch and made a simple Easter dessert table. Want to share it with you. Hope you like the photos. I only took a few. I baked and decorated the cupcakes, egg shape cookies, and small cakes, made it simple with spring colors. The tablecloth is Cath Kidston. [We] had jelly beans and egg chocolate favors for the kids in colorful small buckets.

Thank you for submitting your Easter dessert table, Rowaida! It's so colorful and the striped linens add great contrast to the overall design.

Happy Birthday Bunny Cake

Easter's right around the corner, which of course means it's time for lots of Easter Bunny sweets. Lyndsay of Coco Cake made this cute-y for her daughter's fourth birthday. By draping a simple cake in white fondant and decorating with cutout fondant shapes, you can create the same look for Easter or any spring birthday party.
Lyndsay thinks this cake would be infinitely cuter if the bunny had nerdy glasses or even a moustache, and I agree whole heartedly.

Dessert Table: Easy Easter

This dessert table via The Sweetest Occasion is as much about the sweets as it is about the setting. Simple cupcakes and beautifully-labeled mini favor bags are just the right touch for an easy Easter brunch. Even if you don't have a bricked courtyard, you can decorate a small table in your backyard with a bouquet of tulips and mix matched floral china.
If you're not celebrating Easter, you can still use this simple idea to get outside and enjoy a stress-free gathering with family in your yard.

Guest Desserts: DIY Sailboat Cupcake Toppers

Today's Guest Dessertst feature was submitted by Melissa of Faux Martha. She sent me this adorable sailboat cupcake topper tutorial. She made the toppers to coordinate with this sailboat baby shower invite that she designed and is offering for free download. Check out Melissa's step-by-step handiwork, and get the how-to for this cute project.

Thank you so much for submitting this great tutorial, Melissa! I love how the sailboat theme is carried throughout the event. It's so cute, and not a theme you see very often for baby showers. Very clever.

Want to give this simple DIY a try? You'll only need a few supplies. And, if you have a recipe, project, or giveaway to share, check out the Submissions page to see yourself featured on Sweet Tooth.

Supplies:

• Plaid Cupcake Liners from Bake it Pretty
• White Cupcake Liners (Always double up your liners so you can actually see the pretty liner. If you use one liner, when the cupcake bakes, the color of the cupcake will bleed into the liner thus losing its pretty pattern.)
• Wooden Skewers
• Wire Cutters
 FauxMartha Cupcake Sail Pattern
• Printer
• Textured, cardstock weight paper
• Scissors
• Exacto Knife
• Cutting Board
• Colored Duck Tape (or colored masking tape)

Instructions:
1. Make and bake your cupcakes, using a recipe of your choice. Remember to use 2 liners. Place the white liner inside the plaid liner. Allow cupcakes to fully cool before icing and decorating.
2. Meanwhile, cut wooden skewers about 5″ long using wire cutters or some other cutting utensil. Keep the side with the pointed end. Don’t worry if the wood begins to fray where you made the cut. We will cover that up shortly.
3. Print out the FauxMartha Cupcake Sail Pattern on textured cardstock. Cut out each sail. Using the longest side of the triangle (not the angle), cut an “x” at the top and bottom on a cutting board. Insert pointed end of wooden skewer into the top “x” on the printed side. Continue to insert the skewer through the second “x”.
4. Cut thin 1/2″ strips of duck tape. Place tape on the top of skewer where you made your original cut. Evenly fold over. Make 2 diagonal cuts to achieve a flag. Push sail up to give it that curved wind blown look.
5. Ice your cupcakes with the frosting of your choice. I use the Wilton Dessert Decorator Pro to ice my cupcakes. In order to get the thick swirls, I don’t use a tip. Place pointed end of the sail into cupcake and you’ve got yourself a cute sailboat cupcake!
